This little girl right here…

This picture reminds me why I do what I do.

Why I became a wellness advocate.

Why I research endlessly.

Why I ask all the questions, even the uncomfortable ones.

Why I decline unnecessary interventions.

Why I might be seen as a helicopter mom.

Why I hired a professional photographer for her preschool graduation.

Why we celebrated by taking her to California after a couple of nerve-wracking, heart-wrenching weeks.

Why I go all out for birthdays.

Why I’ve been labeled “that” mom.

And honestly? I’m not sorry.

I never will be.

Because my kids need me to be that mom.

They don’t know any different—only that they are deeply loved and fiercely protected.
