I got a message from a friend the other day that made me laugh:

“What time is your Zoom in the morning, and when do you go to bed? Carie and I were saying you’re amazing and we don’t know when you sleep!” 😂

Truth is… I do sleep—about 6 hours a night, which is honestly a huge improvement for me. But the reason I can juggle motherhood, business, Zooms, events, and everything else?

Time blocking.

It’s not just a planner hack—it’s a survival skill for moms and business owners alike. And once you start using it, you’ll wonder how you managed without it.

So What Is Time Blocking?

It’s a simple, powerful system where you schedule your day in chunks—or “blocks”—of time, each designated for a specific task or type of task.

Instead of reacting to your day, you plan it.

Why I Swear By It: 7 Real Benefits

  1. You Know What’s Important

No more running around wondering what to do next. Time blocking helps you prioritize your to-do list and start with what matters most.

  1. You’re More Focused

It eliminates the multitasking trap. Each block is dedicated to one task, helping you enter a deep state of focus and get it done without overthinking.

  1. You Learn to Say “No”

With boundaries in place, you’re more aware of your time. It becomes easier to say no to distractions because your schedule already has a purpose.

  1. You’re More Intentional

Time blocking helps you realize how much (or little) time you really have. And when you see your day mapped out, it’s easier to stay on track—even if you hit a detour. Just move on to the next block.

  1. You Actually Follow Through

When something is on the calendar, you treat it like an appointment. From business follow-ups to laundry to self-care—it gets done.

  1. You Let Go of Perfectionism

This one’s personal. I used to get caught up in the details. So much so, I’d end up procrastinating… and suddenly scrolling Instagram instead of working. Time blocking helped me focus on progress, not perfection.

  1. You Find What Works for You

Are you an early bird or a night owl? You get to build your schedule around your actual life—not someone else’s.

Final Thoughts

Time blocking won’t make you perfect, but it will make you more present, productive, and peaceful.

Whether you’re building a business during nap time or trying to find time for yourself in the chaos of motherhood, blocking your time is a game changer.

Trust me. Your to-do list, your brain, and your peace of mind will thank you. COMMENT "pdf" for the full version!
